HOUSTON CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY CRAFT EXHIBITION TOUR

Craft Texas 2014

 

Houston TX, October 11, 2014 – The Visual Arts Alliance will be given an exhibition tour of Craft Texas 2014 at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC). Craft Texas 2014 is the eighth in a series of biennial juried exhibitions showcasing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft. The exhibition
includes sculpture, jewelry, textiles, installations, and furniture featuring 49 works by 44 Texas artists.

Craft Texas 2014 was juried by Carol Sauvion, the visionary behind the PBS series, Craft in America, and HCCC Texas Masters, Piero Fenci, Ceramics Department Head, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Clint Willour, Curator of the Galveston Arts Center.

 

The orientation and tour will be given by Kathryn Walker, Curatorial Fellow at HCCC. Members of VAA and all guests are welcome to this exhibition tour, one of the monthly scheduled free programs sponsored by the Visual Arts Alliance.

 

The orientation and tour will begin at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 4848 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002.

 

Visual Arts Alliance (VAA) is an educational organization for serious practitioners of the visual arts and interested members of the general public. Founded in Houston, TX in 1981, VAA is an all-volunteer-run, 501(c)3, non-profit organization. VAA produces professionally juried art exhibitions providing opportunities for members and non-members to have their work professionally judged and viewed by the general public. VAA also organizes educational programs including studio, gallery and museum tours in addition to presentations of art-related resources. Recreational programs provide creative and supportive events beneficial to artists.
