Today, we installed the 6th Juried Invitational at 1600 Smith Street Gallery. This all-day event sees an entire juried exhibit being executed in a number of hours. Artists drop off their work at 9:00 and leave the gallery, the juror, Nicole Longnecker, begins at 10:00 to make selections and award designations. At noon, artists return to the gallery space and remove work which was not selected. We then layout the show, make the wall tags and hang the art.
The installation of this exhibit has the theme of Nature/Natural-Urban/City. The left part of the gallery takes viewers through the colors, concepts and textures of the natural world such as wind, water and earth. The right part of the gallery is strongly urban in concepts, materials and textures.

The opening reception is Friday, July 18, 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
