Didi Garza received a Certificate of Fine Arts in 2012 from the Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Previously she completed her B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Science Education at Vanderbilt University, followed by a doctorate in Allied Health Education at the University of Houston. She was a medical laboratory scientist/educator for many years in the Texas Medical Center.  While maintaining a career in medical laboratory sciences, she began a part-time career as an artist. She is still an editor/author of education publications in laboratory sciences, but her career in art has become her primary focus. Artistic pursuits employ mixed media collage, and assemblage/sculpture. Her artwork ranges from representational to abstraction while incorporating common parameters in her works.  She utilizes a vivid palette rooted in her Mexican American heritage and she combines found objects in odd representational settings. She often portrays organic or biomorphic shapes based on her work in the laboratory, and she frequently depicts vertiginous angles/perspectives based on the notion of an unbalanced world.

Didi has been awarded art scholarships, shown in juried exhibitions, and donates artwork and volunteers for numerous community health care and art organizations.
