G Gallery, Gallery Talk by Ramzy Telley

Wayne Gilbert, owner of G Gallery, introduced, Ramzy Telley, who presented a talk on his current exhibition. Filmmaker/Artist, Ramzy Telley will be exhibiting “Charmed”, new works of sculpture,video and digital prints at the G Gallery. The theme of the work is an exploration of the emergence of natural forms and designs from inorganic sources and the celebration of forms which may be consider heinous, nature does not make mistakes.
Ramzy Telley graduated from the CalArts experimental film program in 1984. His film work has been screened at notable museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and the Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai, China. In 2000 Ramzy photographed Academy Award nominated film The Wildest Show in the South: The Angola Prison Rodeo and his film “Death In Vegas” was awarded the Grand Remi “Best of Show” at the 2007 Houston International Film Festival. Ramzy has produced numerous art performances, such as live indoor bullfighting, for the Houston art troupeRubber:An Art Mob and is currently a film professor at Pratt Institute in NYC.



Foundry and Studio Tour with Joe Havel

Havel gave a talk and tour of his studio and foundry describing the process of casting in bronze and the development of his works.

Joseph Havel is a modernist American sculptor. He earned a BFA in Studio Arts from the University of Minnesota and an MFA from Pennsylvanian State. He received a National Endowment for the Arts Artist Fellowship in 1987 and a Louis Comfort Tiffany Artist’s Fellowship in 1995. He lives and works in Houston, Texas and is director of the Glassell School of Art. He was Texas Artist of the Year, Art League Houston, in 2010.
