Installation of 30th Juried Open Exhibition

Twenty-five volunteers worked to install this exhibit. It is typical that only artists that were accepted into the exhibit participate in it’s installation. It is exciting that, in this case, we had several volunteers who did not have work in the show; and there was even a new member present. The strength of VAA was demonstrated today!

Art Chatter Critique Group

May 1st, 2013

VAA members were hosted by the Art Chatter Critique Group for the May program.
Art Chatter was founded in 2004 by Tami Merrick and Lynne Rutzky.  It is a local collective of established mid-career visual artists who defy the stereotype of the lone artist in isolated studio practice. This community provides its members a supportive forum for the exchange of ideas, information, and critical responses. Art Chatter members, Tami Merrick, donna e perkins, Joe Aker and Kay Sarver discussed their experiences with the critique group.

Membership is by invitation and limited in size to maintain the individual critique format. In addition to the ongoing self-examination, the group also invites outside critique from outstanding members of the Greater Houston art scene.

Thanks to Tami Merrick and Art Chatter for this great event.

Many of us know Patrick from his many years as a beloved instructor at Glassell, which likely contributed to the high attendance of this event.
